In addition to awarding grants, the Arts Program provides networking opportunities for its grantees through annual meetings in each of its initiatives.
The annual meetings are scheduled during existing performing arts festivals to provide an opportunity for grantees to see new work. The staff also uses these meetings to encourage grantees to learn more about and work more actively with international artists and colleagues. Several commissioning projects and tours already have resulted from this process.
The Arts Program staff also hosts grantee meetings to encourage networking across sectors. For example, in 2003 the theatre community met jointly for the fourth time with colleagues from the presenting world to explore ways to collaborate more effectively and thus bring expanded resources to performing artists.
