In order to maintain a small staff and maximize the reach of its grant dollars, the Arts Program administers relatively few programs itself but more often awards large initiative grants to intermediary nonprofit organizations. These organizations in turn distribute grants to individual artists and arts organizations through competitive, peer-reviewed selection processes.
From 1997-2007, more than 2,200 projects in dance, jazz, presenting and theatre received support through DDCF-funded programs administered by the following Arts Program grantees:
