2010 Clinical Research Fellow Meeting

June 1-3, 2010
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
Dallas, Texas

The meeting opened with a poster session on the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus. Daniel K. Podolsky, MD, President of the UT Southwestern Medical Center, welcomed all the CRF fellows to Dallas at the reception that followed.

The next day, 108 fellows gathered at the Fairmont Dallas with program leaders and administrators to hear selected fellows present podium presentations and to listen to outstanding talks by distinguished faculty from UT Southwestern Medical Center: Helen H. Hobbs, MD, Milton Packer, MD and Daniel W. Foster, MD.

A highlight was on the last morning when Michael S. Brown, MD, who has received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and US National Medal of Science, delivered a talk, “The Cholesterol Cycle: From Bed to Bench and Back,” on his research and lessons learned during his career journey.

The meeting concluded with residency and fellowship directors and other faculty from UT Southwestern leading breakout groups on how fellows can compete effectively for a residency and fellowship. After the session concluded, faculty spoke with fellows one-on-one for insights on planning their career path.
