The Building Bridges Program identifies the organizations which advance its goals through annual competitive processes. Grants are limited to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations operating in the United States. Please note that the program does not directly fund individual artists, and typically does not fund the development of singular artistic projects, including publications and exhibitions.
In 2013, the Building Bridges Program began awarding grants primarily through a competition managed by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art (DDFIA). DDFIA also supports the Building Bridges: Arts, Culture and Identity Program, a re-granting initiative managed by the Association for Performing Arts Professionals.
With the Building Bridges 2018-19 Grants Program, DDFIA aims to build on the achievements of previous grant cycles to create collective impact.
