The Building Bridges Program identifies the organizations which advance its goals through competitive processes. Grants are limited to 501(c)(3) organizations operating in the United States. Please note that the program does not directly fund individual artists, and typically does not fund the development of singular artistic projects, including publications.
In 2013, the Building Bridges Program began awarding grants primarily through a competition managed by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art (DDFIA). DDFIA also awarded grants through The Building Bridges Campus Community Engagement Program, a pilot initiative managed by the Association for Performing Arts Presenters.
With the Building Bridges 2016-17 Grants Program, the foundation aims to build on the achievements of the first three grant cycles to create collective impact.
* The Building Bridges Program is currently undergoing a strategic review of its past funding to determine its future grant-making activities. The program will continue to make grants under its current strategy throughout this process.
