Goals & Strategies
The Environment Program awards grants in four areas:
- Land Conservation in an Era of Climate Change
- Wildlife and Energy Development
- Strengthening the Conservation Field
- Environmental Stewardship in the Tri-State Area
The Environment Program has also awarded more than $40 million in grants to mitigate global climate change through its Climate Change Initiative. Launched in 2007, this five-year special initiative supported research and analysis to develop government policies to foster technological innovation in the energy sector and accelerate the emergence of tomorrow's clean-energy technologies. Through the Climate Change Initiative, DDCF emerged as one of the largest national funders of energy efficiency in buildings. Although the Climate Change Initiative wound down in 2011, our energy efficiency grant-making continues.
