Core Support for National Organizations

Strategy

DDCF provides core support to select national arts organizations whose work is critical for the health of the contemporary dance, jazz, presenting and/or theater fields.

Grant Details

Grants support up to 10 percent of an organization's annual expenses for services and activities benefitting the national jazz, theatre, presenting and/or contemporary dance fields. Grants can be used for relevant operating expenses and/or cash reserves.

In 2013, DDCF awarded core support grants totaling $2.1 million to nine national organizations.

Process

Since June 2007, the Arts Program has invited national organizations with a prior funding relationship with the foundation to submit proposals for core support (see RFP and Budget Form).

Applicants are asked to identify their multi-year organizational objectives, a plan for achieving those objectives and benchmarks against which progress toward those objectives can be measured.

Proposals are reviewed by a panel of outside reviewers, which recommend applicants for funding based on multiple criteria (including impact on the national field, organizational capacity, quality of strategic planning and quality of leadership).

Eligibility & Future Grants

Applications are by invitation only. Please check this page in late 2015 for the 2016 deadline.
