Maurine Knighton, program director for the arts, and Kerry McCarthy, co-chair of New York Community Trusts’ Mosaic Network & Fund, write about MacKenzie Scott’s latest $2.74 billion round of grants and how it underscores the vital contributions Black, Indigenous and people of color-led arts and culture organizations make to social transformation.  

Knighton and McCarthy write: “Creating and presenting art is always a labor of love, but Scott's gifts remind us that artists and the groups that nurture them are an important investment. If we are to tell the American story fully and in all its richly textured splendor, their work is vital.”
