Build a Pipeline of Diverse Social Service Leaders
The Child Well-being Program intends to positively influence the lives of children and families by supporting a portfolio of leadership and professional development programs that benefit mid- and senior-level professionals who reflect the diversity and lived experience of those they serve and who lead programs and influence policies that serve the well-being of children.
Visionary and effective leadership in the social service sector is essential to successfully strengthening communities and helping them meet the complex needs of and challenges to the well-being of their children and families. These leaders must be able to implement, document and disseminate new strategies that put into practice the latest and most relevant data showing that children benefit from approaches that simultaneously support the well-being of their parents, also known as multigenerational approaches. This requires deep content knowledge, leadership and professional development skills, access to technical and financial resources, as well as meaningful connections to diverse mentors and peer learning networks.
The leadership programs supported by DDCF’s Child Well-being Program incorporate elements of traditional academic training programs and experiential and social change leadership approaches. Participating fellows are mid- and senior-level professionals who reflect geographic, racial and ethnic diversity, and represent the academic, nonprofit, and public sectors. The leadership programs are aimed at growing the professional fellows’ critical skills, networks and opportunities that enable them to more effectively serve children.
