Doris Duke Foundation Welcomes Ben Beisswenger as Chief Technology Officer

NEW YORK – APRIL 18, 2024 — The Doris Duke Foundation today announced the appointment of Ben Beisswenger as its chief technology officer.

With over a decade of experience building technology for social impact, Beisswenger brings extensive expertise to the role. As chief technology officer, he will spearhead the foundation's technology strategy, focusing on innovative solutions that inspire new ways of thinking, enhance efficiency and foster collaboration across Doris Duke Foundation’s initiatives, grantmaking programs and public-facing convening centers: Shangri La in Hawaii and Duke Farms in New Jersey.

“In her lifetime, Doris Duke was at the vanguard. Yet foundations have not led the way in demonstrating the potential for technology to accelerate and improve social innovation,” said Sam Gill, president and CEO of the Doris Duke Foundation. “Ben’s experience with two foundations borne of technology and already at the cutting edge makes him the perfect leader to demonstrate how technology can help us more effectively steward Doris Duke’s legacy.”

During his tenure at Emerson Collective and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Beisswenger led the development of cloud systems platforms and constituent relationship management strategies, significantly bolstering investment and partnership efforts. His approach to technology management aligns with and enriches the foundation’s mission to build a more creative, equitable and sustainable future.

“I am overjoyed to join an outstanding, cohesive organization driven by passion and purpose,” said Beisswenger. “Our goal as a technology group is to weave technology into our operations and culture: solving real problems while realizing technology’s potential as an accelerator to maximize impact.”

Beisswenger holds a Bachelor of Arts in engineering from Dartmouth College and has served as board treasurer for Ledyard Charter School since March 2023, president of the Young Professional Board at City Youth Now (2018-2021) and board secretary for Selamta Family Project (2008-2020).
